What is BRIDGE?

Launched on 16th January 2002, BRIDGE is an intensive day program designed for outpatients who need extra support in their recovery.

It facilitates re-entry into the community by providing a structured therapeutic environment.

Goals of BRIDGE Programme

  • To encourage members to learn from and with each other
  • To encourage discussion of issues relating to addiction and recovery
  • To help participants to come to an understanding of personal issues related to their addiction
  • To help participants consider making healthy changes in their lifestyle
  • To help participants understand that their lives have been affected by their addiction
  • To help the participant understand the relapse process
  • To help the participant understand the change process and the impact of changes in their lives

Who can join BRIDGE?

Participants enter the programme voluntarily and generally, these individuals may struggle with problems associated with an alcohol, drug, sex and/or gambling addiction. In order to be accepted into BRIDGE, you need the following.
  • A desire for change
  • A willingness to abide by BRIDGE guidelines and regulations
  • A willingness to commit to attending daily BRIDGE meetings for a minimum of two to three weeks
  • A referral from a CAMP professional

What happens when I enter BRIDGE?

BRIDGE participants will receive psycho education and support during their recovery from addictions. It runs on a full day schedule from 9.30am to 4pm. Counselors, psychologists, occupational therapists, psychotherapists conduct the groups every Monday to Friday.

Where is BRIDGE?

The BRIDGE programme is located at the Institute of Mental Health/Woodbridge Hospital and organised by the Community Addictions Management Programme (CAMP).
